The Technical Working Group-Committee on Poverty Alleviation of the House of Representatives approved yesterday the "Magna Carta of the Poor". The proposed bill aims to involve a gradual shift from government subsidy to the eventual empowerment of the poor. The same aims to strengthen the poverty alleviation programs and strategies of the government. Social protection programs implemented by different government agencies are to be improved.
The Committee on Poverty Alleviation is chaired by Hon. PL Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza of TUCP Party List . The bill is introduced by Hons. Rachel Marguerite B. Del Mar, Ben V. The President of ALLWIES, Susanita Tesiorna has been a resource person for the last four TWG meeting until the bill is passed in the technical Working Group level of the Committee yesterday.
