NAPC in action to support RH Bill passage

Feb. 18, 2011....The National Anti-Poverty Commission, the Phil. Commission of Women, the local government of Quezon City, the Basic Sectors, advocates and other government agencies gathered together in front of Quezon City Hall to demonstrate a strong call for the passage of RH Bill.  The activity was titled "Go NaGo for RH Bill: Ipasa Na!" of which Bill, is now on its 10th year of advocacy.  Rep. Edcel Lagman was the honorary speaker and Former Sen Shahani expressed her all time support and appreciation of the sustained advocacy efforts of the advocates.

Magna Carta of the Poor was approved at the Committee Level-House of representatives

      The Technical Working Group-Committee on Poverty Alleviation of the House of Representatives approved yesterday the "Magna Carta of the Poor".  The proposed bill aims to involve a gradual shift from government subsidy to the eventual empowerment of the poor.  The same aims to strengthen the poverty alleviation programs and strategies of the government.  Social protection programs implemented by different government agencies are to be improved.

      The Committee on Poverty Alleviation is chaired by Hon. PL Raymond Democrito C.  Mendoza of TUCP Party List . The bill is introduced by Hons. Rachel Marguerite B. Del Mar, Ben V. Evardone, Marcelino R. Teodoro, Rodante D.  Marcoleta, Peter M.  Unabia, Raymond Democrito Mendoza, Erico B.  Aumentado, Bernadette R. Herrera-Dy, Abigail Faye C.
